Thank you for interest in Black Hills Ski For Light. As a non-profit organization for 40 years, we deeply appreciate the support from individuals, businesses and organizations from across the United States.
First, a word of caution, volunteering to help us is extremely addictive. We have individuals who have been with us since 1979. Now that says a lot about the attraction and the tradition to serve our organization.
Our premier event is a four day winter ski program for the blind/visually impaired and the mobility impaired.
The strength and continued growth of our programs are a testament to the efforts of our volunteers. Our organization is a unique blend of blind, visually impaired, mobility impaired, and able bodied individuals. We attract an energetic, positive, and diverse group of people because of the nature of our outdoor programs. Our volunteers come from all walks of life, from all over South Dakota, and from many other states.
The breadth of activities leads us to seek volunteers with a wide variety of talents and skills. No special experience or requirements are needed to volunteer other than an desire to help others. The opportunities to assist are endless and include: guiding, event support, office staff, fund raising, event planning. These are a few of the areas open to our volunteers. If you have a skill or talent, we can use you. We invite you to join us as a volunteer. We welcome you to stop by one of our events to see us in action. If that is not possible, contact us to find out more about how you can assist us to continue our mission.
We know you will have an unforgettable experience and you will receive much more in return than you give.
